From Hoi An, this private day tour shows you My Son Sanctuary and Thanh Ha Pottery Village, two must-see attractions in the area. In the morning, you will sightsee and learn about history in My Son, the holy land of ancient Champa kingdom from the 4th to 14th centuries. It’s well-known for ancient Hindu temples amid dense tropical forests. In 1999, it’s inscribed to be Unesco world heritage site. The next place to visit is Thanh Ha Pottery Village where locals have made the pottery for 500 years. Here, you will walk around to see small alleyways, watch artisans at work and meet a family with many generations making pottery. Try your hand at making pottery.

Pick up

Pick up time: 7:30 AM (local time)

Our driver and guide will pick up you at your hotel in Hoi An. If it’s in the city center, our guide will be in the lobby, so please wait him/her here. 

My Son Sanctuary

Hidden away in the mountains, My Son Sanctuary is the holy land of Cham people who owned the Champa kingdom from the 2nd to 19th centuries. It has more than 70 buildings. The oldest one was constructed in the 4th century. Here, Shiva is the main deity. After the 14th century, My Son was abandoned and then invaded by forests. In the Vietnam War, it’s damaged by bombings from the USA air force. See more details

From the main entrance, visitors will take a transfer by buggy car to skip a 2-kilometers-long walk to the temple zone (still walk after this ride).

In My Son Sanctuary, visitors will see Temple B-C-D (the largest group), Temple A, Temple G, Temple E, Temple F and ruins along the trekking trail. See more details

Total walking distance is 2 kilometers.

Traditional Art Performance of Cham People

Have a seat, relax and watch a stunning show with performances by Cham artists. All artists will wear the traditional costume, dance or play a musical instrument. This cultural show brings the audience a good time and a chance to know better about intangible cultural heritages of Cham people who built My Son. See more details

Thanh Ha Pottery Village

Visit the last surviving pottery making village in the area. Local people in this village has been made pottery from the 15th century. Here, visitors will walk along narrow and peaceful alleys to watch the artisans working at their houses or kilns, try the hand at making a pottery with their instruction, see the products they made and buy something for souvenir. See more details

Have lunch with local food

You will have lunch with Mi Quang (or Quang noodles). It’s made of rice noodles, shrimp, quail egg, pork/chicken, broth, rice cracker, roasting peanuts, and raw vegetables. See more details

Return & Drop off

In Hoi An, our guide & driver will drop you off in your hotel within city center/Old Town. The tour ends.

What to bring/wear

Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes, hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain poncho/jacket (from October to January), cash.

For My Son Sanctuary (a holy place), please wear respectively. The pants should cover the upper knees and the shirt should cover the armpits, navel, shoulders and chest. See more details
