This tour shows you the history, culture and cuisine of Hoi An, an international trading port and Unesco world heritage site. Between the 15th and 19th centuries, it welcomed merchants from many countries in the world. That’s why you see a fusion of Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and European cultures here. Our guide will take you to the Japanese Bridge, the symbol and the most special building in the town and other cultural/historical landmarks (assembly halls, temples, market, old houses, old quarters,…). Additionally, you have the chance to try famous local specialty foods and beverages, including Cao Lau noodles that is not found anywhere else. In 1999, Hoi An was honored to be a world heritage site.

Traditional handicraft workshop
Meet a local women wearing a Vietnamese traditional dress (ao dai) and listen to her explanation about long-standing handicrafts in Hoi An (including silk making, lantern making, embroidery, garment making, so on).
Japanese Covered Bridge
Visit the symbol of Hoi An. Spanning a small river, it’s constructed in the 17th century by Japanese people and then restored by Chinese people. Behind the bridge’s part, there is a temple where locals have worshipped Xuanwu (a Chinese general and Taoist god). One of its names is Lai Vien Kieu which means ‘the bridge that receives the guests from afar’, showing the hospitality of the locals to the foreigners. This historical and religious site is more special than any other bridges in Vietnam. See more details
From the handicraft workshop to this place, you will walk pass by Phung Hung Old House (see and take pictures from outside, won’t go in).
Famous local herbal tea
Our guide will take you to the only store where you can try the famous herbal tea of Hoi An. It’s made of lime juice, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea leaf, honey bee, ginger, Chinese medicine,… During the day, people queue up to buy this drink. See more details
From the Japanese Bridge to this place, you will walk pass by Museum of Sa Huynh Culture and Cantonese Assembly Hall (see and take pictures from outside, won’t go in).
Kazik Statue
Kazik Park is a small public park and special attraction in Hoi An Old Town. It’s built to pay homage to Kazimierz Kwiatkowski, a Polish architect and conservationist. He had amazing contributions in restoration of cultural heritages in Vietnam, especially My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town. Later, both of them became Unesco world heritage sites. Old House of Tan Ky
Visit the most typical merchant house in Hoi An. It’s constructed in the 18th century and since then, has been nearly unchanged. In the front, this house is by a busy trading road and in the back, it opens to the quay where the boats dock. It’s furnished by fine wooden furniture and decorated by be elaborate wooden carvings and mother-of-pearl paintings. Flood levels over the years are shown in the Back hall. See more details
Fujian Assembly Hall
See the largest and the most richly-decorated Chinese temple in Hoi An. It boasts the glorious architecture and sophisticated wooden carvings that are made by the most skillful local craftmen. Here, the community has been worshipping Thien Hau Goddess and organized festivals to commemorate and honor her during the year. See more details
Hoi An Central Market
Visit the oldest and biggest market in Hoi An. Here, people sell a huge variety of local products, including fresh vegetables, tropical fruits, fishes, seafood, poultries, spices, noodles, household items, lanterns,… Walk through the food hall where local women make and sell different local food and food specialties. In the front of the market, there is a ancient well that is still in use and covered by a tile pavilion. See more details
Ba Le Well
Visit the most famous well in Hoi An. Since 10th century, local people have still used fresh water from it to make specialty foods in their town (such as Cao Lau noodles, Mi Quang noodles,…). Today, although tap water is popular, some people still carry water from this well to sell for living. See more details
Black sesame soup
Visit a local family in which different generations have made the sweet black sesame soup, a specialty dish of Hoi An Old Town. Here, our guide tell stories about an old man who sells it for many decades on the street and he was honored to be ‘pudding master’. After that, learn how to eat the soup like a local. – Our driver & guide will pick you at your hotel in Da Nang city center (including Hai Chau District, Son Tra District except Nai Hien Dong ward & Tho Quang ward, Ngu Hanh Son District except Hoa Hai ward & Hoa Quy ward) or Hoi An city center.

What to bring/wear
Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes, hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain poncho/jacket (from October to January), cash.
To visit the temples, please wear respectively. In other words, make sure that the pants cover the upper knees and the shirt covers the navel, shoulders, armpits.
