This half-day tour shows you the countryside of Hoi An. The best way to explore it is riding the bicycle. Our guide will take you to Tra Que Vegetable Village first, where local farmers have grown vegetables and herbs by traditional farming techniques. For Hoi An residents, fresh herbs here have the best quality for eating and cooking. A real local farmer will teach you how to plant and water the vegetables in his/her garden. After cycling through rice fields, have the chance to experience of riding the water buffalo. The next attraction is Cam Thanh Coconut Village where you discover the coconut forest by bamboo basket boat, a unique fishing boat in the region and watch the spinning boats. Try your luck at catching crabs with instruction of local fisherman.

Our guide will see you at 288 Nguyen Duy Hieu Street, Son Phong ward, Hoi An city (Le Pavillion Gallery Hotel). The meeting time is 8:00 AM or 1:00 PM (local time).

Tra Que Vegetable Village

Located on a fertile island, Tra Que Vegetable Village is the biggest fresh vegetable producer in Hoi An. Since the 16th century, local people here have still been using traditional farming techniques to grow vegetables and herbs. See more information & details

Here are activities that you will do in Tra Que Vegetable Village:

– Visit vegetable gardens and learn about different types of herb from our guide

– Meet a real farmer and learn how to grow young vegetables from him/her

– Have an experience of watering the vegetables by a shoulder pole and buckets, have the opportunities to take fun pictures

Rice Fields

Ride the bicycle through peaceful green or yellow rice fields. Have the chance to watch the local farmers working. See more details

Water Buffalo Riding

Meet a water buffalo and have an experience of riding it like the locals do. In which, have the chance to take fun and unique photos about Vietnam. See more details

If do not want to ride the water buffalo, you can see it and take pictures with it, or simply skip this activity.

Cam Thanh Coconut Village

Located near the estuary of Thu Bon River, Cam Thanh Coconut Village is known for many thatched roof houses, fishing harbors and a vast water coconut (nipa palm) forest. See more details

Here are things to see/do in Cam Thanh Coconut Village:

– Van Lang Fishing Village: see an authentic central Vietnam’s fishing village with thatched-roof bamboo house and embark the basket boat ride to discover the water coconut forest.

– Small canals inside Bay Mau Coconut Forest, a protected mangrove forest and former hiding place of Vietcong guerillas in the war.

– Watch a live performance of boat spinning by a local man and then have the chance to join him if want to have an adventurous experience.

– Watch how the locals catch fish by traditional net, the way they do every single day in the rivers to earn for living. Have the chance to try your hand if want to be a fisherman.

– Go crab fishing: follow the instruction from locals to catch small brackish crabs which run fast and hide well. Release crabs right before exit the coconut forest because won’t eat.

– Learn how to row the basket boat, a fishing vessel unique to central coast of Vietnam.

Return & Drop off

Return to Hoi An city center and end the tour at 288 Nguyen Duy Hieu Street, Son Phong ward, Hoi An city (Le Pavillion Gallery Hotel).

From here, the walking distance to Hoi An Old Town is only 500 meters. In the Old Town, you will have many choices of places to have lunch/dinner, drink a coffee or go shopping.
