This half-day cycling tour shows you the Coconut Village of Hoi An. It’s located near the estuary of Thu Bon River, to the east of Hoi An city center. Here, you will see a well-protected water coconut forest (nipa palm forest) and fishing villages. To discover the forest, local man uses a round bamboo boat (called ‘basket boat’) and row it along small rivers to immerse into the nature. Watch local life on river banks, thatched-roof houses typical to the area, see fantastic performance of spinning boats, see how the locals catch fish by traditional net and try your luck in crab fishing. On the way from the town to the village, enjoy cycling through the peaceful countryside with rice fields and have an experience of water buffalo riding. Join to know better Hoi An’s rural areas.

Our guide will see you at your hotel in Hoi An city center (Minh An, Cam Pho, Son Phong, Cam Chau, Cam Thanh areas).

Cycle to Cam Thanh Coconut Village

Ride your bicycle and follow our local guide to go through the countryside with rice fields, small villages and vegetable gardens. Have the chance to see local farmers or fishermen working.

Water buffalo riding

Water buffalo riding is a popular and unique eco-tourism experience offered in the peaceful countryside surrounding Hoi An, particularly in villages like Tra Que. Guided by local farmers, visitors get the chance to ride a water buffalo through picturesque rice paddy fields, offering a fun glimpse into traditional Vietnamese agricultural life. See more details

Cam Thanh Coconut Village

Located near the estuary of Thu Bon River, Cam Thanh Coconut Village is known for many thatched roof houses, fishing harbors and a vast water coconut (nipa palm) forest. See more details

Here are things to see/do in Cam Thanh Coconut Village:

– Van Lang Fishing Village: see an authentic central Vietnam’s fishing village with thatched-roof bamboo house and embark the basket boat ride to discover the water coconut forest.

– Small canals inside Bay Mau Coconut Forest, a protected mangrove forest and former hiding place of Vietcong guerillas in the war.

– Watch a live performance of boat spinning by a local man and then have the chance to join him if want to have an adventurous experience.

– Watch how the locals catch fish by traditional net, the way they do every single day in the rivers to earn for living. Have the chance to try your hand if want to be a fisherman.

– Go crab fishing: follow the instruction from locals to catch small brackish crabs which run fast and hide well. Release crabs right before exit the coconut forest because won’t eat.

– Learn how to row the basket boat, a fishing vessel unique to central coast of Vietnam.

Lantern making class

Hoi An’s lantern-making classes offer a delightful and authentic cultural immersion, allowing visitors to learn the traditional craft synonymous with the “City of Lanterns.” Under the guidance of local artisans, participants get a hands-on experience, selecting colorful silk fabric and bamboo to construct their own foldable lantern in various traditional shapes.
