History & Mural Paintings in Da Nang Fresco Village

Da Nang Fresco Village (or Da Nang Street Art Village) is the first mural painting project in Da Nang city downtown. It’s opened on 29th March 2018, to commemorate the 43rd Da Nang Liberation Day and the 43rd Vietnam Unification Day. The project was launched by Da Nang’s local authorities, in collaboration with art and architecture clubs including 15 artists. To complete dozens of frescoes, they worked hard during 3 months. The city wished that there were more people coming into this ‘village’, helping to improve the income of families living inside.

Along a 200-meters-long alley stretching from 75 Nguyen Van Linh St to Phan Chu Trinh St in Da Nang Fresco Village, visitors will see many mural paintings. These works of art portray beautiful moments of life in the city, such as fishermen pulling fishing nets on the beach (often occur in Man Thai Beach) or other slices of fishing villages, local women carrying vegetables or fruits by shoulder pole and wearing a conical hat on the head, kids playing together, kids playing the kite, or Son Tra langur or red shanked douc (one of 25 world’ most endangered primates, emblem of Son Tra Peninsula), so on. By that, visitors have many subjects to take photos of.

Mural paintings of Da Nang Fresco Village are drawn on the wall of houses. Each one brings a different story to viewers. The best paintings are what you like!
