Established as a Green Beret outpost in 1962, the Khe Sanh Combat Base evolved into a heavily fortified U.S. Marine garrison designed to monitor communist supply infiltration along the Laotian border. In early 1968, the isolated installation endured a grueling 77-day siege characterized by relentless artillery barrages and infantry assaults from the People’s Army of Vietnam. Sustained primarily by massive aerial resupply and heavy bombing, the garrison held until relief operations broke the encirclement, though the base was dismantled shortly after and now operates as a historical memorial museum.

Our driver will pick up you at your hotel in Hue.
Long Hung Church (Ruins)
Built in 1955, the Long Hung Church served as a local place of worship in Quảng Trị Province before becoming a heavily contested stronghold during the fierce 1972 Easter Offensive. During the historic 81-day battle for the nearby citadel, the structure absorbed relentless artillery and bomb fire while acting as a strategic defensive position. Today, its heavily scarred and roofless ruins stand preserved as a national memorial monument reflecting the severe destruction of the war. See more details
Quang Tri Citadel
Constructed as a defensive fortification during the Nguyen dynasty, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel became the site of a brutal 81-day battle between opposing forces in the summer of 1972. Countless artillery rounds and heavy airstrikes virtually leveled the massive brick ramparts and the surrounding town during the intense fighting. Restored sections and a solemn memorial park now stand on the grounds to honor the thousands of combatants who lost their lives defending the stronghold. See more details
The Rockpile
*In this tour, visitors will see the Rockpile from afar (Highway 9) because it’s not yet accessible.
The Rockpile is an isolated, steep limestone outcropping in Quang Tri Province that the U.S. military utilized as a vital strategic observation post and artillery fire support base. Because helicopters provided the sole means of access, this rugged stronghold allowed spotters to monitor enemy movements across the surrounding valleys and coordinate long-range strikes. See more details
Dakrong Bridge (Ho Chi Minh Trail)
The Đakrông Bridge served as a vital logistical gateway and crossing point along the sprawling Ho Chi Minh Trail network during the Vietnam War. Because of its strategic value for moving troops and supplies south through rugged terrain, the surrounding valley was heavily targeted by American air strikes and fiercely contested. Khe Sanh Combat Base (Ta Con Airport)
Ta Con Airfield served as a vital tactical logistics and transport hub for the U.S. Marine Corps within the Khe Sanh combat base complex during the Vietnam War. The installation was heavily contested and endured intense artillery bombardments during the strategic 1968 Khe Sanh campaign. Today, the former runway functions as an open-air memorial museum where visitors can inspect preserved trenches, bunkers, and vintage military aircraft. See more details
