Itinerary

Hue day trip itinerary from Hoi An

Pick up time: 8:00 AM

Hue City served as the capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty (1802–1945), cementing its status as the nation’s political, cultural, and religious heart. Today, it stands as a living symbol of Vietnamese heritage, universally celebrated for its preserved imperial architecture, royal court traditions, and profound intellectual legacy.

In Hue city, you will see these places:

(1) Imperial City (Citadel): This sprawling 19th-century fortress complex served as the political and administrative heart of the Nguyen Dynasty. Visitors can explore grand palaces, ornate dynastic temples, and expansive walled courtyards reflecting Vietnam’s royal history. See more details

*Attractions inside this complex: Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Kien Trung Palace, The Mieu Temple, Forbidden Purple City

(2) Khai Dinh Tomb: This hillside monument is celebrated for its unique architectural fusion of traditional Vietnamese aesthetics and European gothic influences. The elaborate structure features detailed porcelain mosaic work, dark stone pillars, and striking life-sized bronze statues. See more details

(3) Thien Mu Pagoda: This iconic seven-story octagonal tower sits atop a hill overlooking the peaceful Perfume River as an active Buddhist monastery. Founded in 1601, it stands as one of the oldest and most spiritually significant symbols of Hue. See more details

*Alternative to Khai Dinh Tomb if do not like to (or can’t) climb many stairs – Tu Duc Tomb: Nestled within a tranquil pine forest, this idyllic royal retreat was designed by Emperor Tu Duc himself to serve as both a sanctuary during his reign and his ultimate resting place. Set around a scenic lake with elegant pavilions and lotus blossoms, it reflects the poetic and romantic nature of Vietnam’s longest-reigning monarch. See more details

Lunch is served at a restaurant with Vietnamese and local dishes.

Between Hoi An and Hue, you will have a stop at Lap An Lagoon to take a rest, catch beautiful views, have a cup of coffee or try locally-sourced fresh oysters. See more details
