What to Expect in Tho Quang Fishing Village?
Tho Quang Fishing Village is a Vietnamese fishing village in northeast Da Nang, near the foot of Son Tra Mountain, estuary of the Han River and the sea. Its name was made from word ‘Tho’ of ‘Nam Tho Village’ and from word ‘Quang’ of ‘Man Quang Village’ (so there is actually no Tho Quang Village in reality!). These villages were established in the 15th century.
On the east side of Tho Quang Fishing Village, there is a beach (called Tho Quang Beach). Compared to nearby beaches, it’s less popular for visitors, therefore it’s more peaceful (during the day, there are only local people on this beach). In the early morning, a small fish market opens here and the fishes are extremely fresh because offloaded from the fishing boats that just anchor.
On the west side of Tho Quang Fishing Village, it’s Tho Quang Fish Market/Fishing Port, the largest seafood trading hub in central Vietnam. To visit, the best time is before 5 AM, when the most boats anchor the port.
Inside Tho Quang Fishing Village, visitors can find some top local seafood restaurants that lie within small and winding lanes. These places serve seafood that family members catch in the same day or the days before. For that reason, prices there are less expensive than the ones lining My Khe Beach or Man Thai Beach. One of them is Hai San Nam Danh, got a Michelin star in 2024.

How to Get to Tho Quang Fishing Village
Tho Quang Fishing Village is located near foot of Son Tra Mountain (or Son Tra Peninsula), on the way from the city to the big Lady Buddha.
From Da Nang city center, the distance to Tho Quang Fishing Village is 4-10km. Visitors often choose to take a taxi, hire a private car/bus, or ride the motorbike to get there.
From Hoi An, the distance to Tho Quang Fishing Village is 40km. It takes visitors over 1 hour to get there if book a private car/bus. If like riding the bike, the best route is the coastal road (Lac Long Quan Street in Hoi An or Truong Sa Road/Vo Nguyen Giap Road/Hoang Sa Road in Da Nang). This village is just before the Lady Buddha.
