What to Expect in Phong Nam Ancient Village?
Phong Nam Ancient Village is a Vietnamese rural village in the outskirts of Da Nang city, central Vietnam. It’s separated in 1896 from Phong Le Village (established in the 15th century) when it’s cut into two by a river. At that time, the northern part of this village is called ‘Phong Le Bac’ and the southern one is known as ‘Phong Le Nam’ or shortly ‘Phong Nam’.
Today, Phong Nam Ancient Village is totally surrounded by rice fields, making it a peaceful oasis. Local life here is still unchanged although the village is close to highways and cities. How to Get to Phong Nam Ancient Village
Phong Nam Ancient Village is located in Hoa Xuan ward, Da Nang city (formerly Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang). It’s not far from Cam Ne Mat Village and Tuy Loan Rice Paper Village.
From Da Nang city center, the distance to Phong Nam Ancient Village is 10-15km. Visitors can take a taxi, hire a private car, or ride the motorbike to get there. If like going by bike, find the quickest way to see Highway QL1A and then go southwards to crossroad of Phong Nam Road. Turn into this road to see the village.
From Hoi An, the distance to Phong Nam Ancient Village is 22-25km. Visitors can take a taxi, hire a private car, or ride the motorbike to get there. If like going by bike, find the quickest way to see Highway QL1A and then go northwards to crossroad of Phong Nam Road. Turn into this road to see the village.
Phong Nam Ancient Village is an interesting stop on the way from Da Nang city to My Son Sanctuary (UNESCO world heritage site).
